Zweigelt – a cross between the St. Laurent and Blaufrankisch grape varieties, created by Dr. Fritz Zweigelt in 1922 - is the most widely planted red variety in Austria, growing in nearly 9% of this country's vineyards. It is a robust grape, highly resistant to dryness, frost and various diseases.
The wine boasts a deep and concentrated red color. It offers fruity, fresh and spicy aromas, cherry flavors. In the mouth it is smooth, medium-bodied, round and lively.
"Lusciously ripe black and red cherry fruit is abundant; its flavors pervade everything and speak to the ripeness of the 2015 vintage. Yet, the palate is balanced with enough freshness to make this a very enjoyable, juicy wine. Pack it in your picnic basket or chill it for a lovely bit of Austrian sunshine in your glass."
