This is an intense and concentrated wine offering pleasant citrus and grapefruit aromas, exotic tropical fruits with a hint of freshly ground white pepper. Medium-bodied dry wine with a firm mineral backbone, crisp acidity on the finish. A very pleasing wine to drink.
A firm mineral backbone makes it a great pairing for seafood, sushi & summer salads.
"A terrific value, the 2023 Hugl Grüner Veltliner 1 liter has bright citrus, gooseberry, and minty, leafy herbal notes as well as a vibrant, balanced, vivacious style on the palate. It's not bone dry, but it has bright acidity and beautiful overall balance. Drink this undeniably delicious quaffer in its youth."

"Slightly more intense than the 2012 Grüner Veltliner is the 2014 Wimmer Grüner Veltliner, another 1,000-mililiter packaged bottle selling for a song. Plenty of lime notes intermixed with grapefruit, a hint of tangerine, and apple are all present in this fresh, well-focused, zesty wine. Drink it over the next year."

"There is a nice mineral aspect in the nose and even a salty, saline-like note mingling with fresh squeezed lime aromas; light to medium bodied and quite crisp, with a pretty array of fresh citrus flavors."

"An outstanding bargain from this Austrian producer located in the southern part of Weinvertel, this should turn out to be a hugely popular wine, given the price point and the liter-sized bottle. Loads of wet rocks, crushed chalk and honeyed grapefruit as well as touches of apricots and apple skin are all present in this aromatic, light to medium-bodied, fresh, dry, zesty wine. Drink it over the next 1-2 years."
