This estate wine is grown on the Meriwether Vineyard surrounding Pearmund Cellars winery - Meriwether Vineyard in Fauquier County, VA is Virginia's oldest Chardonnay vineyard, nominated as a Virginia Grand Cru ® Vineyard by the American Grand Cru Society ®.
On the nose, mineral notes like river stone, combine with fruit aromas such as granny smith apple and pear. The complex and textured palate combines viscosity and fatness from lees stirring, creaminess from partial malolactic fermentation, and silky tannins from barrel aging. Bright acidity balances all of these rich elements that persists through the finish alongside subtle notes of vanilla.

Established in 1990, it is the only wine-judging event in North America that is based on Terroir - a group of vineyards (or even vines) from the same region, belonging to a specific appellation, and sharing the same type of soil, weather conditions, grapes and wine making savoir-faire, which contribute to give its specific personality to the wine.
