The color is classic intense garnet red clean and of good substance on the nose with floral and fruity notes with hints of licorice and roots. Wine of character with marked tannins. Velvety and harmonious with notes of sweet spice and jam.
Parcel is only 0.8 hectare (2 acres) in size and it is located 280 meters (850 feet) above sea level.
The Barolo Castellero is very good with red meat, game and aged cheese. Well as with many rich international dishes.
"The 2018 Barolo Castellero is another attractive wine in this range. It offers pretty, forward fruit wrapped into a classic, mid-weight frame. Dark cherry, plum, spice, leather, tobacco and incense bring out darker shades of Nebbiolo. A few hours if aeration works wonders here. There’s quite a bit of grip, so a few years in the cellar are advisable."

This has a graceful nose of sweet-spice and fresh red berries. Medium-bodied with a tight bead of fruit, wound around by the same spicy elements that also coat the fine-grained tannins. No great complexity here, but it’s an endearing Barolo, whose charm will increase as it evens out in bottle. Try from 2024."
