Produced from the oldest parcel of the estate dating back from 1979 and planted on the slopes of the Vergisson Rock, "Sur la Roche" benefits from a south sun exposure. This beautiful Chardonnay offers abundant floral and white fruit aromas, toasty and buttery notes and brioche scents. Well-balanced and concentrated on the palate with a rich structure and refreshing notes of zesty lemon and mineral purity that brings a vibrant energy to the finish.
It is now a Premier Cru.

"From a 1.60-hectare parcel on white limestone soils at 360m altitude on the Roc de Vergisson, the 2020 Pouilly-Fuissé Sur La Roche 1er Cru has a gorgeous bouquet with crushed rock, white tea and wild peach scents all beautifully-defined. The palate is very well balanced with a fine spine of acidity, very cohesive, maybe just a little more malic than the Maréchaude, yet with just as much persistency in the mouth. Superb. - Neal Martin"

"Opening in the glass with notes of pear, citrus oil, white flowers and wet stones, the 2019 Pouilly-Fuissé Clos Sur la Roche is medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with fine cut and grip. It's the most tightly wound and incisive of these 2019 and consequently—to my palate—the most promising. - William Kelley"

"One of a comparatively small number of vineyards in Vergisson that will soon be categorised as a premier cru, Sur La Roche has proved its worth in warm 2017. This old-vine parcel runs to 1.6ha and has produced a stylish, feline wine with a hint of wood, lots of crunchy acidity and notes of grapefruit and pepper spice. "Once again, reduction renders the nose impossible to accurately evaluate. The round and suave medium weight flavors possess a silky mouth feel as well as fine intensity before terminating in a tightly knit, dry and mineral-infused finish. This is really quite impressive and the name certainly telegraphs the pronounced stoniness. Worth considering."

"The 2011 Pouilly-Fuisse Clos Sur la Roche has a well-defined, mellow, cohesive bouquet with scents of lime flower, quince and honeysuckle. The palate is fresh on the entry with a lovely citric thread. There is impressive tension here although it needs to develop a little more persistency on the finish. Otherwise, this is an attractive wine. - NM"
