Vacqueyras is a blend of 80% Grenache noir, 10% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre. Each grape variety comes from different terroirs: Syrah comes from clay and limestone as well as clay alluviums. Grenache comes from 60+ year old vines planted on terraces of rolled pebbles. Centenaries Mourvedre are planted on alluvial terraces.
The wine shows a rich and expressive nose and beautiful aromas of ripe blackberries, dark plum supported by spicy notes and fine and well integrated toasty nuances. Dense, textured and velvety on the palate, with firm and silky tannins, concentrated blackberry flavors. Full-bodied, silghtly chewy yet elegant and well-balanced. Dried herbs towards the compact, spicy finish.

"Aromas of blackberries, dark plums, bark and dried spices. Full body with firm tannins. Textured with a blackberry-like touch on the palate. Slightly chewy but the overall balance remains. Dried herbs towards the compact, spicy finish. 80% grenache, 10% syrah and 10% mourvedre. From organically grown grapes. Better after 2023."

"Floral, pretty and neat, with good purity of fruit. Smooth on the palate, the acidity, fruit and tannin all balanced. Well played for such a tricky year. Much better than most and will last longer than most 2021s. Fermented in concrete, aged for 12 months in barrel, no new oak. - Matt Walls"
