The Terra Barrosa range is named in honor of the rich soils in the region which are a major factor in the Barossa’s reputation as one of the great wine regions of the world.
The color is a deep inky purple. The nose is a complex mixture of lifted berry fruit, pencil shavings/chocolate oak and ripe plums, with a floral lift from the Petit Verdot component. The palate is medium to full bodied. Due to the complexity of the blend, the palate starts with sweet plums and spice and then turns to blackcurrants and liquorice with dark chocolate interwoven throughout the mouth. Soft and sweet tannins then follow on with some great sweet fruit.
Pairs well with sun-dried tomatoes and basil pesto ravioli.
"Brown brick red color. Aromas and flavors of chocolate berry bar, eucalyptus honey, and cranberry relish with a satiny, bright, fruity medium-to-full body and a graceful, charming, long finish revealing impressions of pomegranate, vanilla toffee, and sandalwood. A graceful, elegant Australian red blend that is sure to please."

"Lurid violet. Cassis, bitter cherry and cola aromas are energized by a peppery nuance. Primary black and blue fruit flavors open up slowly with air while developing a suggestion of succulent herbs. Clings nicely on a tangy, youthfully tannic finish that shows good nerve and cut. - Josh Raynolds"

"Bright and floral, with dried lavender accents to the tangy berry and cherry flavors. Crisp acidity keeps everything in focus. The tannins aren't shy on the finish, where a spicy note lingers. Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2027. 1,000 cases made. MaryAnn WOROBIEC"

"This is one of my go-to wineries for top values from the Barossa Valley in Australia. The Thorn family has been growing grapes since the 1870s, and the quality of these wines is impressive. Moreover, the prices are almost ridiculously low, making these wines frequent entries in The Wine Advocate. All of the following wines are produced from 100% Barossa Valley fruit from what they call the Kabininge Vineyard. The 2012 Terra Barossa Proprietary Red, a blend of 69% Shiraz, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot aged 12 months in a combination of French and American oak, is a wine that over-delivers. Its deep purple color is followed by notes of blueberries, licorice, camphor, chocolate and a background hint of espresso. This is a big, chewy, rich, fruit-bomb with enough oak to provide additional character. Enjoy it over the next 3-4 years. - Robert Parker"

"The 2011 Terra Barossa Shiraz Cabernet Petit Verdot (69%, 21% and 10% respectively) exhibits notes of tobacco leaf, cedarwood, melted chocolate, black currants and vanillin. Medium-bodied, round, juicy and low in acidity, it is a bistro/hamburger/pizza wine that is best drunk in its first several years of life."
