Fenocchio's 1/2 hectare Cannubi vineyard was purchased by the family in the late 1800's & is considered to be among the finest. The vineyard is on a low-lying hill, planted on Tortonian soil (blue marl and sandstone mixed with sand), which gives perfume and velvet to the wine.
Intense, rich and inviting aromas of ripe raspberries, roses, violets and warm spice notes.
Complex, harmonious and concentrated. Well balanced between noble tannins and ripe lush fruit. It is full bodied and mouth-filling with a finish that is long and lingering. It is a wine noted for its longevity.
The Barolo Cannubi pairs well with dishes of red meat, game and aged cheeses, which are typical of the local cuisine, as well as with many rich international dishes.
"Spicy red fruit and mushrooms on the nose, together with bright cedar and truffle-like notes. Medium-bodied palate with a tight core of nebbiolo fruit and some firm, grainy tannin. Very compact now. Lighter body this year, yet it’s quite complex and well polished. Give it until at least 2024."

"Aromas of underbrush, new leather and botanical herb mingle with a whiff of tobacco. Linear and vibrant, the full-bodied palate shows tart red cherry, red currant and star anise before finishing on a green walnut note. Tight, close-grained tannins and bright acidity keep provide support. - KERIN O’KEEFE"

"The 2018 Barolo Cannubi offers up sweet dried cherry, incense, tobacco, blood orange, rosewater, cinnamon and crushed savory herbs. There is a feeling of transparency in the 2018 that is absolutely beguiling. I would give the tannins a few years to soften. This is very nicely done. The purity of the flavors is striking."

"A whole, beautiful wine with ultra-fine tannins that spread across the palate. It’s full-bodied with refined tension and a long, polished finish. Subtle complexity of berries, cedar, walnuts and dried flowers. Try after 2024."

"The 2017 Barolo Cannubi, aged for 30 months in 20- to 25-hectoliter Slavonian oak, is from a small, 0.5-hectare parcel of Cannubi. It reveals perfumed notes of pure cherry, anise, violets, and leather. The palate is tightly wound and resinous with pine, bitter herbs, and orange pith, with angular structure. Allow 3-5 years and drink 2024-2046. - Audrey Frick"
- Jeb Dunnuck (May 2021), 93 pts
"The 2017 Barolo Cannubi is a very pretty, ethereal Barolo. Crushed flowers, sweet dried red berries, mint, chalk and white pepper are all nicely lifted. This is a decidedly light style, even for Cannubi. - Antonio Galloni"
- Antonio Galloni's Vinous (February 2021), 91 pts
"Wow. This is so perfumed and beautiful with scents of berry, walnut, dried herb and cherry. So subtle. Full body, super integrated tannins and a long finish. Gorgeous. Best Cannubi this year? Drink or hold."
- James Suckling (July 2017), 97 pts - Rank #29 of the Top 100 Italian Wines of 2017
