The wine is produced from vineyards that spread over the south-east side of the Dentelles de Montmirail hills, in Beaumes de Venise in the southern part of the Rhone valley.
Deep, dense, tightly packed nose with smoky herbal essences and lovely peppery, stemmy fragrance. Round and full-bodied, very rich with concentrated black fruits - but the acidity is perfectly balanced and the tannins are pleasingly muscular.
Serve with a meal especially red meat, game and cheese.
"Smoky bacon, bay leaf and olive brine. This is very fine for a whole-bunch style, with lovely tannic finesse and texture. Powerful, tannic and cleansing, yet compact, with driving acidity, a dry, savoury finish and perfect balance. A good vintage, for what is a reliably good-value southern Rhône pick. Vineyards in conversion to organic; fruit is whole-bunch fermented.- Matt WALLS"

"Interesting blend, and it comes through on the nose - it's a fruity, floral style of Beaumes that's really appealing. Full-bodied, rounded, generous and fluid, with very fine tannins. This is a real success in 2021. Also contains 5% Mourvèdre and 4% Grenache Blanc. No destemming, aged 12 months in stainless steel."

"Upon nosing the wine, a delightful garden of cut roses, and violets, along with fresh red cherry, grace the nose. Concentrated red cherry, black tea, black peppercorn, flint and pulverized granite linger on the palate, all held in elegant structural balance with its tannins. - Anna-Christina Cabrales"

"A distinctly elegant style of Beaumes de Venise; gently aromatic, but with a good upswell of tannin and a persistent finish. Well-tailored, with peppery herbs on the finish. Also contains 6% Marsanne and 4% Grenache Blanc. Always a good value option."

"Immediately interesting on the nose, the herbs and flowers come first, thyme and lavender, then the raspberry fruit. Medium-bodied, good sense of freshness and definition to the fruit and structure, with good acidity and crispness of flavor. Fresh, savory, delicious. Great value. 60% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 6% Marsanne, 5% Mourvèdre, 4% Grenache Blanc, no destemming. Drinking Window 2021 - 2028 - Matt WALLS"

"This appellation, located just south of Gigondas, always produced a Provençal, spicy wine and the 2018 Beaumes De Venise is no exception, showing a ruby/purple hue, notes of herbes de Provence, ground pepper, and garrigue, loads of raspberry and blackberry fruits, medium-bodied richness, and a great finish. It’s an undeniably delicious, balanced, gulpable beauty to enjoy over the coming 3-5 years."

"Aged for 10-12 months in stainless steel, this has intense juniper and rosemary notes on the very rounded and savoury palate. The tannins are robust but ripe and will need time to settle, and the acidity is fierce. It's very powerful but balanced overall, retaining freshness. An impressive wine with tremendous focus and seething energy. Another excellent vintage for one of the best value wines in the southern Rhône. Drinking Window 2022 - 2028"

"Alive with peppery freshness and herbal bitters, rosemary and thyme. Full-bodied, very fresh and lively on the palate, with sculpted fruit and tannin, and a discreet bitter saline twist on the finish. It's very well balanced, and deeply savoury and herbal. Drinking Window 2019 - 2026"

"If I had some concerns about how the 2015 would turn out, I've no question regarding the quality of the 2016 Beaumes de Venise, undoubtedly one of the top wines of the appellation. Complex aromas of flowering thyme, lavender and bay leaf join cracked pepper, roasted meat and red raspberries in this tank-aged blend of 70% Grenache (including a small proportion of Grenache Blanc), 25% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre. Full-bodied, silky in texture, with a long, vibrant, pepper and berry-laden finish, it should drink well for more than a decade. - Joe Czerwinski"

"Tasted as a barrel sample, the 2013 Beaumes de Venise (65% Grenache and 35% Syrah that’s aged all in concrete) is a pretty, perfumed and Provençal effort that gives up plenty of peppery herbs, dark fruits and garrigue. Medium-bodied and nicely balanced on the palate, with solid underlying acidity, it’s quite good and should drink nicely on release, with a solid 3-4 years of prime drinking. - Jeb Dunnuck"

"This excellent estate, which produces a very good sweet Beaumes de Venise, does an even better job with their Cotes du Rhone-Villages Beaumes de Venise, a three-fourths Grenache / one-fourth Syrah blend aged in foudre. The 2009 exhibits Provencal pepper, lavender and roasted herb notes intermixed with black currants, black cherries, truffles and spice. It is a medium to full-bodied, traditionally styled Cotes du Rhone to drink over the next several years."
