Smooth, round and silky wine with cherry and blueberry aromas, vanilla beans, spice and tobacco nuances.
Full-bodied and elegant, well-balanced and a layered palate with dark fruit flavors and a long finish.
Pasta with meat sauce, red meats and game.
"Complex aromas of sweet berry, bark, cedar and dried flowers follow through to a full body with firm, silky tannins that are polished and very, very pretty. Tight and closed at the finish. Reserved and structured. Needs four or five years to open. Try after 2024."

"This is a lithe wine, its flavors of dark cherry and licorice girded by leathery tannins. Notes of tobacco and forest floor add an earthy appeal."

"Bright red. Perfumed red berry, strawberry, violet and cinnamon on the enticing nose. Enters juicy and perfumed, then tight and increasingly austere as the high acidity and noteworthy tannic bite keep the fresh red fruit flavors under wraps. Finishes long and clean. This will undoubtedly improve with a little bottle age and will show best with food. It’s a lovely, perfumed Brunello, but I would have liked a touch more ripe fruit; still, this steely wine is very much in the style of the year. - Ian D'Agata"

"A refined nose of spicy red fruit and dark chocolate ushers in a full-bodied, layered palate with prominent yet mature tannins elevating dense black fruit to a long, complex finish. Drink 2021-2031."

"Good full red. Lively bright ruby. subtle aromas of tarragon, mint and fresh fennel . A supple, rather delicate midweight with a pliant texture. Finishes with fine tannins and noteworthy persistence. I’d drink this attractve midweight over the next ten-twelve years.- Ian D'Agata"

"The Pinino 2012 Brunello di Montalcino shows savory characteristics of dark smoke and dried fruit that are uniquely reflective of the vintage. The wine reveals brooding aromas of cherry confit, blackberry preserves and dried fig. Yet, those dark fruity tones are set against thicker layers of spice, tobacco and leather that give the wine a better sense of unity and balance. In other words, this is a big and bold Brunello from all points of view. The results are contemporary, broad and generous on the nose. The mouthfeel is much thinner and short by comparison. - Monica Larner"

"Pinino’s 2010 Brunello di Montalcino sees fruit sourced from the northern half of appellation near the Montosoli single-vineyard. The wine opens to medium consistency and pretty ruby color with dark garnet hues. It takes a few minutes to start its engines, but once it does it operates with a slow, steady pace that promises longevity over immediacy. This cellar-worthy Brunello should continue its evolution over the next ten years. The tannins are tight, but they already deliver attractive silkness on the long finish. This promises to be a very enjoyable wine after 2017. - Monica Larner"
