Quintaluna expresses the genuine character and freshness of Verdejo. The grapes are sourced from a range of small vineyards across various towns in northern Segovia: Nieva, Aldeanueva del Codonal, Aldehuela del Codonal and Santiuste de San Juan Bautista. The vineyards are planted on sandy soils with a high codon content, bringing minerality, freshness and finesse to the wine. Most of the vines are ungrafted, dating back to the 19th century prior to the phylloxera epidemic having been protected from the devastating plague by its sandy soil. A smaller section of the vineyard is comprised of younger vines that are hand-selected and low-yielding.
Quintaluna offers aromas of white flowers, stone fruit (peach), citrus (lemon, mandarin) and hints of tropical fruits. The palate is complex, with bright acidity, and typical almond and ripe fruit flavors. A nice shade of fresh grass and aniseed on the finish.
It pairs wells with all kinds of appetizers, entrees and salads.
"The 2020 Quintaluna is pure Verdejo from small plots on sandy soils in the province of Segovia, fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts. They still use grapes from external suppliers but are working toward using 100% their own grapes (which they might achieve in 2023); therefore, the wine is not certified organic, because some of the vineyards from the growers are not certified. It has a balsamic nose reminiscent of bay leaf, dried yellow flowers, chamomile and pollen intermixed with pit fruit. It has a dry palate and a chalky texture, with balance and finesse, with moderate ripeness and 13.5% alcohol. 110,000 bottles. - Luis GUTIERREZ"

"A full-bodied white with sliced apple, white pineapple, waxy lemon and some pear. Slightly waxy. Long and flavorful. An excellent example of verdejo. Drink or hold."

"The 2019 Quintaluna, pure Verdejo from the province of Segovia, fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and was kept with the lees for nine months. A small fraction of the wine was in oak foudres and barrels. This feels like a ripe vintage, not as ripe as 2017 but with an exotic touch and more varietal notes of freshly cut grass. It's balanced and soft, with integrated acidity and rich flavors. 100,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2020. - Luis Gutiérrez"

"Waxy apple and melon aromas come with notes of white pepper and hot rocks. This is another in Ossian's line of oak-aged Verdejos from Segovia. It's full and rounded, with notable core acidity. Lightly spiced apple and saline flavors are leesy, while this plays out on the finish with oak and mineral notes. The wine comes from 150-year-old vines. Drink through 2022. - MICHAEL SCHACHNER"

"Light, bright straw. Fresh pear, orange pith and a suggestion of pungent flowers on the powerfully scented nose, along with a building mineral nuance. Juicy and incisive in the mouth, offering Meyer lemon, pear and quince flavors accented by a spicy ginger flourish. Silky and focused on the finish, which shows powerful floral lift, minerally cut and impressive persistence. - Josh Raynolds"

"The very tasty 2018 Quintaluna shows the new style in a cooler vintage where the wine achieved ripeness without excess, developed full aromas and flavors and retained good freshness. It's faintly varietal, still young, a little shy and complex. 100,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2019 after nine months with the lees, a small part with oak. - Luis Gutiérrez"

"The 2017 Verdejo Quintaluna (100% Verdejo) offers a Chardonnay-like character with notes of honeyed orchard fruits, toasted nuts, and spice. Medium-bodied and nicely textured, with integrated acidity, it’s a food-friendly white to enjoy over the coming year or two."

"Bright yellow-gold. A highly perfumed bouquet evokes ripe citrus and orchard fruits, honeysuckle and dusty minerals, and a hint of chamomile builds in the glass. Juicy, mineral-driven melon and peach flavors stretch out and deepen while maintaining energy. Closes minerally and very long, with a resonating floral note. - Josh Raynolds"

"(aged in stainless steel tanks on its lees for a brief two months): Light, bright gold. Vibrant and minerally on the intensely perfumed nose, displaying an array of fresh citrus and orchard fruit aromas along with suggestions of fennel, quinine and jasmine. Sappy, penetrating and pure, offering zesty lime and pear flavors that deepen with aeration. The mineral quality drives a long, focused finish that leaves hints of pear skin and succulent herbs behind. This organically tended site, which has many vines that reportedly pre-date phylloxera, lies within the Rueda zone, in Nieva, but the bodega doesn't want to adhere to the D.O.'s regulations, hence the generic regional designation. - Josh Raynolds"

"Light yellow. Spicy nectarine, melon, pear skin and honeysuckle aromas are energetic and bright. Fleshy and seamless on the palate, with fresh honeydew and pit fruit flavors brightened by a spicy, gingery quality. Finishes very long and precise, with refreshing mineral cut and lingering floral character. A standout wine in a difficult vintage and a great value to boot. The Ossian vineyards lie within the Rueda D.O. but the owners prefer not to be overseen by regulatory agencies so they forgo the appellation designation in favor of the generic Vino do la Tierra de Castilla y Leon moniker."
