Chateau Thibeaud-Maillet comes from 25 to 50 years old Merlot grapes planted on the plateau called "Maillet", east of Pomerol, on sandy-gravelly soils that are favorable to the good maturity of the grapes and result in supple and round wines with power, finesse and of intense purple color.
This 100% Merlot offers a rich and elegant nose of dark currants with a hint of leather, pencil shavings and some dark flowers, along with well-integrated touches of wood. The wine is nicely balanced and layered with fine acidity and silky tannins. Great length with clean fruit, minerals and spices in the aftertaste.
Delicious with lamb, duck breast, cheese.
"Made from mainly Merlot grapes from vines 100 yards from Pétrus, this wine is dense and spicy with fine tannins and black-plum flavors. Its structure is still young showing the wine has potential. Drink from 2025. - Roger Voss"
