The Unexpected #2 was produced from a French distillate sourced in the heart of the French Alps, between the Vercors cliffs and the Ecrins peaks, near the city of Trièves at an altitude of 900 meters.
The Unexpected #2 is a 10-year-old whisky from the Vanessa organic barley, aged in three types of casks - Oloroso, Amantillado (in humid cellar) and Pedro Ximenez (in dry cellar), and bottled at 50% natural strength.
Vanessa barley is organically grown, with low yields, wood distillation, producing a very distinctive aroma. A long maturation is necessary to provide Michel Couvreur's typical characters and complex flavors.
An elegant nose with marzipan, delicate floral notes, walnut and subtle cocoa. A rich and unctuous mineral character follows through, along with candied fruits flavors, marzipan, hazelnut and mocha. The finish is long and complex with roasted notes and liquorice.
