Collemattoni's Riserva is sourced from their Fontelontano Vineyard (.5 ha), located between Sant’Angelo in Colle and Collemattoni at 380 meters above sea level. This vineyard, named for the ancient water source in the area, dates back to 1984 and is the oldest vineyard at Collemattoni. It is made only in the best vintages, and it is one of the few single vineyard Brunello di Montalcino Riservas.
Intense ruby red with brilliant burgundy reflects in color. Reminiscent of wild black fruits, vanilla and spices on the nose. Dry, warm, slightly austere yet velvety in the palate.
steak, pheasants and strong cheese.
"An intense, focused nose, showing dark walnuts, currants and blueberries with some dried meat, roasted sweet spices, dried flowers and tar. Full-bodied and very tight, full of melted, creamy tannins with a mineral accent to the very long, reserved finish. Drinkable now, but better after 2024."

"Dried berry and cherry with flower and walnut undertones. Some stones and dry earth. Full-bodied with a chewy, intense palate, showing wonderful structure and depth. A serious 2015 Brunello. Drink after 2023."

"The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigna Fontelontano brings together notes of plum sauce and black cherries with exotic brown spice and cooling mint leaf. It’s deeply textural and medium in body but with a brilliant dose of acidity which brings the expression to life, giving way to sweet strawberry and licorice. Although tannic, there’s enough primary intensity and verve to keep the experience fully enjoyable right through its long finish. A few years of cellaring may bring out a bit more depth, at which point this should enjoy a long and open drinking window. Very nice. - Eric Guido"

"Moderately saturated red. Deep rich aromas of redcurrant, smoky dark chocolate-covered plum, vanilla, mocha and grilled meat. Silky-sweet on entry, then fine-grained and creamy in the middle. Boasts outstanding density and an exhilarating acid/tannin/fruit balance. Closes long and suave with a strong note of vanilla and other oaky spices. You can tell this was aged in smaller oak barrels (500 liter tonneaux). - Ian D'Agata"

"Saturated flavors of cherry and plum mesh nicely with the dense tannins in this intense, energetic red. Balanced, if a bit angular now, with the component parts needing time to integrate. Finishes with a firm grip and lingering tobacco and mineral accents. Best from 2022 through 2038. From Italy.—B.S."

"Deep ruby. Very deep aromas of red plum, red berries, sweet spices and crushed stone are complicated by mint and cinnamon on the captivating nose. Juicy and extremely intense, with a crystallized quality to its sharply delineated fruit and spice flavors, this huge, structured wine is bursting at the seams with ripe fruit and flesh. A luscious mouthful of Brunello that finishes long with polished tannins and noteworthy energy, not to mention subtle building perfume.- Ian D'Agata"

"Cherry and plum flavors are singed by mushroom, tamari and wet earth notes in this broad-shouldered, burly red. There is sweetness at the core, necessary to balance the dense, dusty tannins. Remains fresh and should develop well. Best from 2019 through 2033. 300 cases made. –BS"

"Good full red. Coffee and herb nuances complicate dark red cherry on the nose and palate. More austere today than the 2009 classico, finishing with rising tannins that are just this side of dry on the long, mouthcoating finish. - Ian D'Agata"
