 "Walter Bressia founded his family winery in 2003, having been working in the industry in Mendoza since the 1980s. His Monteagrelo is rich, Andean and rustic, like blackberry jam with all the pips; this wine has a direct, open sunniness that seems to convey the thin mountain atmosphere. Some lilac complexity and fresh fruit power it through the coffee-bean finish, which takes front-and-center stage a day after opening."

We’re not really sure why, we only go by the wines we’ve tasted from there, like this Monteagrelo which, despite the name, comes from viñeyards in Vista Flores. This wine shows good ripeness, flavors of sweet red fruit, but is not as it was a decade ago in Vista Flores. Today, the new generation blends this sweetness with fresh tense acidity that changes the profile, without losing the essence."

"The 2012 Malbec Monteagrelo is mostly from Agrelo with around 20% grapes from Vista Flores in the Uco Valley, a ripe red that matured in French oak for 18 months. It revealed ripe aromas of juicy berries and moderate influence from the élevage with some spiciness. The very supple palate shows less influence from the wood and is more fruit-driven with nice fruit and good structure offered by sweet tannins and moderate acidity."

The outstanding 2011 Malbec Monteagrelo was aged in French oak and bottled without fining or filtration. Its dark purple color is followed by notes of chocolate, espresso, blackberries and black raspberries. Medium to full-bodied with excellent concentration, sweet tannin and an impressive finish, it should drink well for 5-7 years.
