Located on a high bluff overlooking the Columbia River where a consistent breeze and cool nights keep the Botrytis pristine in favorable years, good airflow allows the grapes to stay healthy until picking commences late in the season.
Botrytis Cinerea, also known as “noble rot”, is a beneficial mold that grows on ripe wine grapes in the vineyard under specific climatic conditions. The mold dehydrates the grapes, leaving them shriveled and raisinated which concentrates the sugars and flavors. Wines made from these berries have a rich, complex, honeyed character and are higher in residual sugar.
