"Tea, cinnamon and floral notes accent black cherries in the impressive 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Pieds dans les Galets Vieilles Vignes. It's a blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah, with the Mourvèdre and Syrah aged in foudres and the Grenache in tank. It's drinkable now for its lovely fruit and texture, but it has the soft, dusty tannins and lingering finish to suggest that aging up to decade is also possible. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. - Joe Czerwinski"
