"The 2018 Capitel is pure Verdejo from an ancient plot in the village of Nieva (Peña Aguda, mentioned on the label) that is within the limits of Rueda but sold as Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León. It fermented in 228-liter oak barrels with indigenous yeasts, where it matured with the lees for 10 months, during which time the lees were periodically stirred (bâtonnage). That oxidative vinification and aging has produced an exuberant wine that is fully ripe, with creamy aromas and flavors and a soft texture. It's rich and seems to be evolving quite quickly. 3,000 bottles were filled in September 2019. - Luis Gutierrez"
