The Clos des Corvees de Citeau is a .96 hectare vineyard located in Meursault. It was part of the appellation of l'Ormeau; an old property of the Cistercian monks who made a two meter wall around the vines. The tall walls create a micro-climate that encourages early growth and ripening.
Thanks to its clay rich soil, the vineyard produces a rich, opulent and luscious wine that can be enjoyed young. This is a powerful and elegant white Burgundy; expressive, fresh and fruity with intense and strong flavors.
"The 2020 Meursault Clos des Corvées de Citeau, the monopole of the Domaine, has a very well-defined, you might say Roulot-like bouquet, with yellow plum, quince and light orange pith scents, an underlying stony scent becoming more accentuated with time. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh with a slightly waxy-textured finish, a little more extract here. Excellent. - Neal Martin"

"The 2019 Meursault Clos des Corvées de Citeau, which was the first vineyard picked this year, has a tightly wound bouquet of crushed rock, jasmine and honeysuckle aromas. The palate is smooth and slightly honeyed in texture on the entry, richer than Chavy-Chouet’s other Meursault, revealing hints of sesame and a little toastiness toward the long, harmonious finish. Excellent.- Neal Martin"

"The 2018 Meursault Clos des Corvées de Citeau comes from the domaine’s one-hectare monopole located in the middle of the village (part of the lieu-dit of En L’Ormeau). It ripens early and was the first to be picked in 2018. It has a distinct bouquet, quite understated, with yellow stone fruit, grilled walnut and powdered chalk. The palate is fresh and vibrant and slightly lower in acidity than the domaine’s other cuvées, leading to a slightly exotic but very attractive finish.- Neal Martin"

"The 2017 Meursault Clos des Corvées de Citieau is a one-hectare monopole that is part of L’Ormeau on clay soil that is relatively flat compared to other climats. It has a generous bouquet with white peach, almond and hints of white chocolate that unfold in the glass. The palate is well balanced and fresh despite the lower acidity, hints of orange rind and quince with a taut and quite linear finish. This feels nicely coiled at the moment and the dab of ginger on the aftertaste is pleasing and urges you back for another sip.- Neal Martin"

"The Clos des Corvées de Citeaux is a monopole of the Domaine, located next to the lieu-dit of En l’Ormeau, with deep soils rich in clay, and tends to produce wines in a gourmand style with a somewhat exotic, musky character. The 2016 rendition is true to the site, but nicely controlled, with a bouquet of ripe peach and honey, subtly framed by new wood. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and quite concentrated, but retains good tension and energy through the finish. This has the substance and balance to age or attack in its youth. - William Kelley"

"Medium yellow straw. This Meursault is rich and creamy with complex aromas and layered flavors of cured lemon, caramel, toasted oak, and a hint of coconut mango. It’s soft, rich texture is complemented by bright acidity on the finish. Aged in new Allier oak barrels."
