Amaren is " the wine of the mother"(in Basque) and this exceptional wine bears her name, Ãngeles. The best way to pay tribute to her has been to make a wine from grapes grown in plots which represent the essence of the area.
Color: Cherry red.
Nose: Highly intense aromas with a pronounced content of fruit over a delicate background of oak. Lactic nuances and spicy touches.
Palate: Tasty and expressive with smooth, fresh tannins and balanced acidity. On the finish, it is long with reminiscences of red and black fruit. Fresh, lively and persistent.
Mild curries, white meats in sauces, pasta with white and red sauces, grilled mushrooms, foie-gras, salmon

"The generously oaked 2012 Ángeles de Amaren is a blend of 85% Tempranillo and 15% Graciano with malolactic and 16 months of aging in new French and American oak barrels. There are plenty of spices and smoke, toasted aromas and balsamic notes. The palate is sleek and polished, with some dusty tannins and plenty of oak-related flavors. This is still quite oaky after five years, and I guess it will always remain oaky and is therefore not for all palates. 45,000 bottles produced."

"Straightforwardly ripe summer berries and baking spices. The palate is squarely dominated by sweetly spiced oak. Drink now."

"Vivid purple. Cherry, cassis, vanilla and a hint of woodsmoke on the pungent nose. Broad, fleshy and sweet on the palate, offering pliant, oak-spiced black and blue fruit flavors and a strong dose of vanilla. Shows good energy for its richness and finishes plush and long, with supple tannins making a late appearance. There is a lot of rich fruit here but the oak does give me pause. - Josh Raynolds"

"Bright violet color. A heady, complex bouquet displays scents of ripe dark berries, Indian spices and pipe tobacco, with a vanilla quality building in the glass. Blueberry and bitter cherry flavors are impressively concentrated but lively, picking up a smoky character with aeration. Closes very long and smooth, with gentle tannins coming in late to add shape and grip. This supple, appealing sweet and seamless wine is balanced to age but is showing awfully well right now.- Josh Raynolds"

"This wine is a beauty from its complex, perfumed bouquet to its gorgeous silky palate of abundant spicy, dark red cherries and other fruit. While it sees 18 months of new oak, it's well integrated, and the tannins are firm but ripe. Made from 60+ year old vines"

(85% tempranillo and 15% graciano; aged in a 50/50 mix of French and American oak, all of it new): Saturated ruby. Perfumed aromas of blackberry, blueberry, dark chocolate and vanilla. Sweet dark berry flavors and notes of candied licorice and cola coat the palate, with juicy acidity adding support. The cola and blueberry notes carry through onto the long, sappy finish, which is framed by velvety tannins."
