The Sonoma Coast bottling is a blend of barrels from Ferren's single vineyard offerings; roughly half Silver Eagle Vineyard and half Frei Road Vineyard. The wine is always somewhat more approachable early in its life as they use less new oak in the blend. Pure and translucent fruit is the hallmark of this cuvée. Blue and black fruits predominate on the palate with silky, polished tannins providing a seamless mid-palate and finish.
"This red's pure beam of mulberry, griotte and blood orange pâte de fruit is racy, fresh and in perfect alignment as the flavors pick up dried anise, bergamot and iris accents along the way. Captivating for its combination of range and restraint, with a long, streamlined finish that ripples with subtle tension. Drink now through 2032. - James MOLESWORTH”

"Shows steeped red cherry and damson plum notes that form a juicy, coiled-up core, while marjoram, red tea and savory accents fill in the background and meld nicely through the finish. Nicely done. Drink now through 2030. - James MOLESWORTH”

"This is broad in feel but has cut, with a core of mulled blackberry, kirsch and mulberry fruit flavors pumping through, while sweet tobacco, cinnamon, black tea and chaparral hints add ample range to the finish. Drink now through 2027. —James MOLESWORTH”

"Moving to the reds, the 2017 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast comes from a mix of the single vineyard releases and spent 18 months in just 20% new French oak. Awesome notes of kirsch, wild strawberries, toasted spice, and flowery incense all emerge from the glass, and this beauty is supple, medium to full-bodied, and seamless on the palate. While it's a big wine, it stays beautifully balanced and elegant.”

"Offers mouthfilling richness, with burnished flavors of dried cherry, berry and hot stone, backed by fresh acidity and tannins. Smoky accents show on the mineral- and spice-filled finish. Drink now through 2025.—K.M.”

"The 2017 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast) is a pretty, open-knit wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. Sweet tobacco, cedar, exotic spice, earthiness, mint, dried flowers and dried cherry all open up in the glass. There is plenty of depth, but I would prefer to drink the 2017 sooner rather than later. - Antonio Galloni”
