Real Agrado
Spain - Rioja

Real Agrado journey started in 1974 with the plantation of 100 hectares of vines in a privileged area of Rioja between the towns of Aldeanueva and Alfaro, protected by the Yerga Moutain - a scenic area with gentle slopes, clay and limestone soils, alluvial stones, very suitable to grape growing.

Read Agrado wines are produced from 4 distinctive vineyards:

  • Canterabuey - planted in 1975 and characterized by the superb quality of the Garnacha grapes. Old vines, low yield, unique personality. The vineyard has been recognized by Rioja's Regulatory Board awarding Canterabuey with the certification of Vinedo Singular (Single Vineyard).
  • La Lobera - the largest vineyard and the one that offers the widest variety of grapes - Viura, Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo. Soils are poor and stony, and very demanding for the vines.
  • Las Planas - the vineyard with the highest altitude, located on the slopes of the Yerga Mountains and planted with the white grape Viura.
  • Rodiles - low yield from Graciano grapes, producing complex and spicy wines of great aging potential.

During 30 years the grapes were used to produce some prestigious wines and in 2005 the property decided to build its own facility in the middle of the vineyards, the Bodega Vinedos de Alfaro. Since 2018 the Bodega is part of El Gaitero family.
