La Zerba
Italy - Piemonte

In 1973, Ida Cozzio and Livio Lorenzi purchased La Zerba, a country estate in Ligurian-Piedmont Apennines, amongst the beautiful green hills of Gavi. In 1989, the family built a new winery, replacing the old barn that previously housed winemaking facilities. The first bottle was produced on March 29th, 1991, and the family celebrated their satisfaction with this first vintage.

The vineyards extend over 12 hectares (30 acres), surrounding the cellar. At 1,476 feet above sea level, they yield crisp white wines with zesty, mineral characteristics. They produce classic Gavi, and in top years, a special cru called Terra Rossa, Gavi. The winery fully converted to organic viticulture with the 2015 harvest.

The DOC Gavi was founded in 1974 and consists of these villages: Gavi, Tassarolo, Novi Ligure, Pasturana, Capriatta 'ba, Serravalle Scrivia, San Cristo Toro, Parodi, Bosio, and Carosio. The grape of Gavi is Cortese.
