Saint-Veran "Sur la Carriere" is produced from a small limestone-based parcel located on a hillside overlooking an old quarry. The vines were planted in 1970.
This golden color wine displays rich and complex aromas of exotic fruits, honey, citrus fruit with hints of vanilla and soft spices. Rich, powerful and well-balanced in the mouth with notes of cinnamon, honey and exotic fruits combined with well-integrated oak. A long silky finish.
A great accompaniment to duck breast with candied ginger, chicken or fried 'foie gras', grilled lobster, roasted veal.
"A flinty, reductive notion still colors ripe Mirabelle notes on the nose of this wine. The palate adds a coniferous aroma and presents a concentrated, vivid freshness supported by a textured, chalky mouthfeel. This wine is aromatic, poised and elegant. - Anne KREBIEHL MW"

"(from northeast-facing vines on calcaire; aged in a new demi-muid_): Cool but deep aromas of white peach, orange zest, brioche, crushed stone and spices convey a youthfully medicinal aspect. Ample and rich but energetic; spicy and mouthfilling without showing any heaviness. The long, rising finish is enlivened by oak spices. This wine clearly benefited from its cooler exposition in this sunny, very warm year.- Stephen Tanzer"

"This lively, crisp wine comes from a less than an acre of organically grown vines. It has big lemon and green-apple flavors as well as intense acidity that gives a juicy character. With its youthful freshness, it could do with a few more months to soften. Drink from 2017."

"The 2012 St Véran Sur la Carrière was vinified in a demi-muid and matured in the fine lees for nine months. This has always been one of my go-to Saint Veran wines and the 2012 does not disappoint. It has a detailed bouquet with subtle scents of lemon curd, white peach and touches of yellow flower that blossom in the glass. The palate is very well-balanced with crisp acidity, great tension, well-integrated oak and a very harmonious, saline finish that lingers long in the mouth and begs another sip. This is an utterly delectable Saint Veran."
