"A toasty, dark-chocolate oak note plays a prominent role in this Barossa Shiraz. But the more varietal cassis and damson-plum fruit are out in full force too, backed by mint, anise and other sweet spices. The plump fruit is cinched by savory, chalky tannins on the palate, while the oak spice hangs around on the finish. Rich but fairly well structured, this could age a few years in bottle or be drunk now with a charred piece of barbecued meat or veg. - CHRISTINA PICKARD"
