Intense ruby/purple color. Delicate aromas of red fruit, liquorice, vanilla and caramel. Ripe fruit flavors, well balanced, great harmonious structure, silky tannins and a good length.
Pairs well with game and red meats, cured cheeses.
"Barrel Sample. Ripe, juicy and generously structured, the wine has all the values of the vintage as well as plenty of aging potential. Berry fruits are shot through with acidity and supported by tannins that are already showing a velvet texture. The wine is set for fine medium-term aging. - Roger Voss"

"This is really nicely crafted with creamy and lightly chewy tannins that add layers and density to the wine. It’s medium-to full-bodied with lovely fruit and a chocolate and walnut undertone. Cabernet sauvignon and merlot. This needs time to come together. Try after 2023."

"Black currant, ash, black-olive and dried-herb aromas. It’s medium-to full-bodied with powdery, fine-grained tannins. Drink or hold."

"This is a rich wine with generous tannins and dense black-plum fruits. A hint of dark chocolate gives the wine its rich texture and edge of extraction that will not detract from the delicious ripe fruitiness and potential. Drink from 2023. - Roger Voss"

"Very classic Haut-Médoc with tons of blackcurrants and blackberries. Yet there’s rather classic balance with elegant, moderately dry tannins and a long, clean finish. A blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot. Drink or hold."

"The 2016 Cambon La Pelouse has a classic, nicely detailed bouquet with blackberry, briary, autumn leaves and cedar aromas that gently unfold in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, very harmonious and cohesive with supremely well judged acidity that lends the finish a silky smooth, gently grippy finish that bodes well for the future. Excellent. Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois tasting in London. - Neal Martin"

"Close to some of the top Margaux vineyards, this estate regularly produces some fine wines. This bottling is beautifully structured, firm with tannins and also generous with black fruits. A high percentage of Merlot gives a particularly ripe and juicy wine that will age over the medium-term. Drink from 2022. - Roger Voss"

"Big black fruits and a ton of ripe tannins make this a dramatic wine that would be hard not to like. The balance is really good and that makes it delicious right now. If it were a bit more complex it would rate even more highly."

"From an estate right on the border of Margaux, the 2015 Cambon la Pelouse checks in as 50% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, all brought up in 35% new barrels. It has beautiful complexity in its spicy oak, cedarwood, and black raspberry and currant aromas and flavors. These all carry to a medium-bodied red that has a seamless, ultra-fine texture, good concentration, and a great finish. It’s a beautiful, incredibly high-quality wine that’s already drinking brilliantly, yet I suspect it will shine for another decade."

"Another little gem Cru Bourgeois is the 2015 Château Cambon La Pelouse which comes from close to equal amounts Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with roughly 4% Petit Verdot. It offers a darker edge in its blackcurrant, underbrush, tobacco and earthy aromatics, is medium-bodied, beautifully concentrated, and has building tannin. It's absolutely worth seeking out and will drink nicely for a decade or more."

"Big and powerful, this is a concentrated and complex wine. Blackberry fruit flavors are strongly based on a tannin structure that is lightly sustained by the wood aging. Merlot dominates the blend, giving a sheen to its richness. Drink from 2018."

"The 2012 Cambon La Pelouse is absolutely gorgeous. Far from an easygoing 2012, the Cambon La Pelouse is going to need at least a year or two in bottle to unwind and shed some of its nervous energy. Savory herbs, tobacco, menthol, spices and dark-fleshed fruit fill out the super-classic Haut-Médoc profile. This is a terrific wine for the vintage. - Antonio Galloni"

"Dense but fresh, with a saturated core of blackberry pâte de fruit, anise and plum sauce that races along with vibrant spice and graphite notes. The long finish shows cut and drive, with enough grip to cellar short term. Best from 2014 through 2019."

"Bright, saturated medium red-ruby. Sexy aromas of cherry, black raspberry and licorice are lifted by a floral topnote. Supple and suave, with subtle sweetness and good medicinal reserve to the dark berry and violet flavors. At once lush and lively, with the spine of minerals, acidity and tannins to evolve positively for a decade or more. Finishes with very good persistence. - Stephen Tanzer"

"There are nearly 200,000 bottles of this dense ruby/purple wine, which exhibits load of licorice, barbecue smoke, roasted meats, black currants and sweet cherries. It is well-made, medium-bodied, with silky tannins and a long finish. Surprisingly, even here the alcohols hit 14% naturally. This wine should drink nicely for 5-7 years."

"It comes from a huge southern Médoc estate that is part of the high-quality Haut Médoc group of châteaux called Biturica. The wine offers chocolate, toasty oak, and black cherry characteristics in its medium-bodied, deep, modern, up-front, appealing style. Drink it over the next five to six years."
