"The 2009 Brunello di Montalcino Firma Riserva is a big wine in a subtle way. That may sound like a contradiction in terms, but let me explain. The extraction and power are all on the high end of the Sangiovese spectrum. Yet, the aromatic intensity is somewhat muted and one-dimensional. It's a wine that makes a huge promise, but doesn't deliver 100 percent. In the mouth, Riserva Firma is soft, yielding and full of bold cherry darkness. To err on the side of caution, I'm going to suggest a more immediate drinking window. - Monica Larner"
