Milton Park Shiraz
Thorn Clarke
Australia - South Australia

Milton Park is home to the Thorn-Clarke winery in South Australia, owned and operated by the Clarke family with six generations of grape growing and winemaking heritage. The Milton Park range of wines is made from grapes sourced from estate vineyards and other select vineyard sites in South Australia, allowing consistent quality year to year.

Consisting of Chardonnay and Shiraz the Milton Park range displays bright varietal fruit character complimented by restrained use of oak. These wines are excellent everyday drinking and a fine example of what South Australian vineyards are capable of producing.

In the glass, this wine is deep ruby with purple hues. On the nose, this Shiraz displays rich, ripe plum and berry fruit characters which is complemented by subtle spice and oak character. On the palate, further notes of berries and spice are present with soft round tannins which provides a mouth filling richness to the wine.

Vinification
The grapes are crushed and de-stemmed into fermenters. Yeast is added immediately once in fermenter and the ferments are pumped over twice daily to maximise colour, tannin and flavour extraction. Cooling is used to ensure ferment temperatures remain in the 22-25 degree celcius range which will allow the fruit to display maximum fruit expression. Pressing then occurs approximately seven days after crushing and the wine is then put into predominately American oak to mature.

2019 Milton Park Shiraz - 2.5 Stars - Great Value - WP

wplogo"This wine comes from the Thorn-Clarke family that brings us the exuberant Shotfire Shiraz. The Milton Park is a more restrained style, with enticing black fruit flavors and the herbal verve Aussie shiraz is known for. Whereas Shotfire makes an announcement, this wine makes conversation. - Dave McIntyre"
