2018 Kershaw Chardonnay Lake District Bokkeveld Shale CY95 - 94 PTS - VINOUS

vinous logo"The 2018 Kershaw Deconstructed Lake District Bokkeveld Shale CY95 is sharper and more mineral-driven than the CY96, presenting scents of red apple, citrus peel, crushed stone and melon. The oak is beautifully integrated. The palate is well balanced and precise, slightly creamy in texture on the entry and revealing gorgeous orange zest and black currant leaf notes on the finish. A cerebral and compelling Chardonnay from Kershaw.- Neal Martin"

2019 Kershaw Chardonnay Lake District Bokkeveld Shale CY95 - 95 PTS - VINOUS

vinous logo"The 2019 Chardonnay Deconstructed Lake District Bokkeveld Shale CY95 is much more tensile and edgier than the CY96, taut and very fresh, and more mineral-driven by direct comparison. The palate is medium-bodied and focused, delivering fine definition, a killer line of acidity, and hints of popcorn, almond and orange zest toward the finish. Quite peppery on the aftertaste. Yet another brilliant wine from Kershaw. - Neal Martin"

2019 Kershaw Chardonnay Lake District Bokkeveld Shale CY95 - 96 PTS - TA

tim atkin logo 250"A wonderfully assured expression of what Richard Kershaw calls a "classic year for Chardonnay" made with the CY95 clone planted in the western part of Elgin. Racy, taut and perfumed, with oatmeal and citrus flavours, good extract and top notes of wood smoke struck match. Classy stuff. 2022-27"

2021 Kershaw Chardonnay Lake District Bokkeveld Shale CY96 - 96 PTS - TA

tim atkin logo 250"The Burgundian CY96 clone tends to produce pithier and more focused wines, and that's the case here. Savoury, spicy and stony, it has plenty of structure from shale soils, impressive grip and focus and a tangy, mouth-watering palate embellished by perfumed 50% new wood. 2024-30."
