"The Matheus family, who have run this estate since 1991, farm 44 acres in and around Piesport, including a parcel of Domherr, a small vineyard right next to Goldtröpfchen with full southerly exposure. In the warm summer of 2016, that Domherr parcel ripened its grapes to tropical levels of sweetness, apparent in this wine’s notes of pineapple, mango and baked apples. It’s unusually plush and giving for a Grosses Gewächs wine, though the racy acidity speaks to the places this will go with time in the cellar. It has the concentration to age well."
