jeb dunnuck logo 250"Moving to the reds, the 2019 Saint Joseph is deep ruby/purple-hued and has a classic Saint Joseph perfume of wet granite, peppery herbs, bacon fat, and tapenade, all supported by gorgeous darker berry fruits. Rich, medium to full-bodied, seamlessly textured, and perfectly balanced, it shows the ripe, sexy, powerful style of the vintage yet never loses its Northern Rhône soul and has good acidity and tannins. It's a thrilling Syrah."

"A kiss of vanilla accents rich, concentrated flavors of black-cherry pastilles and plum compote in this ripe Syrah. Made from 100% destemmed grapes and matured in seasoned French oak, the plummy, generously textured wine is marked by delicately smoky, spicy hints of char and crushed peppercorn. Supple and integrated in tannins, it's lovely young but should drink well through at least 2029. - Anna LEE C. IIJIMA"

jeb dunnuck logo 250"Michel farms four hectares in Cornas (the Les Cotes, Bayonnet, Chaillot, and Saveaux lieux-dits), a tiny 0.67 hectares in Saint Joseph, and one hectare in Saint-Péray. These are brilliant wines across the board. Starting with the 2017 Saint Joseph, this solid, concentrated, tannic wine isn't meant for instant gratification, yet has impressive darker, almost blue fruits, loads of minerality, ample mid-palate depth, and a big finish. A mini-Hermitage with its structure and minerality, it’s going to benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and drink nicely for over a decade. It's an impressive Saint Joseph.- "

It's luscious and silken but anchored by crisp acidity and a firm mineral undertow. The finish is moderately long, extended by fine-grained, persistent tannins. - Anna LEE C. IIJIMA"

vinous logo"Brilliant violet. Blackberry, boysenberry, violet, olive and a hint of cracked pepper on the fragrant nose. Clean and racy in style, offering gently sweet dark berry and spicecake flavors and a subtle mineral nuance that builds as the wine opens up. Silky tannins lend shape to a spicy, nicely persistent finish, which leaves behind repeating floral and spice notes. From the tiny section of the appellation that lies just south of Saint-Péray. - Josh Raynolds"
