2012 Domaine de l'Ecu Muscadet Orthogneiss - 91 PTS - WA

wa91"The brillant, lemon-colored 2012 Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Orthogneiss shows a complex and dense matured aroma of ripe, rather tropical fruits, such as pineapple intertwined with lime rind, honeydew melon, floral notes and very delicate yeasty flavors. This is a surprisingly rich, full-bodied, very complex and persistent wine with a thrilling acidity, mineral length and candied citrus aromas in the aftertaste. A great Muscadet to drink now or in the next 10 to 15 years. - Stephan Reinhardt"

2013 Domaine de l'Ecu Muscadet Orthogneiss - 90PTS - WA

wa90"The pale colored 2013 Muscadet Sevre et Maine Orthogneiss has a precise and citric fruit aroma of candied limes, dried apples and brown pips. The palate is quite rich but also piquant, fresh and salty, the finish complex and long. This is another must-taste Muscadet from this terrific biodynamic domaine. - Stephan Reinhardt"

2015 Domaine de l'Ecu Muscadet Orthogneiss - 91 PTS - VINOUS

vinous logo"Niger reported that his gneiss- and orthogneiss-based vineyards demanded especially careful selection in the aftermath of 2015’s late summer rain and subsequently persistent humidity, but the results here are clean and expressive. Smoky suggestions of struck flint mingle with quarry dust, fresh apple and lemon on the nose. There is a richer mouth feel here than in the corresponding “Granite” or “Gneiss” – even a hint of oiliness – but that has not precluded clarity or consummate refreshment on the finish, to which tingling impingements of lemon zest and stone lend invigoration. - David Schildknecht”

wine enthusiast 91 pts"One of a pair of wines named after the rock of the vineyard, this offers great fruitiness, crisp lemon and a mineral edge that balances with the wine's fresh character. It is a delicious wine, still developing, ready from late 2019. - ROGER VOSS”

2018 Domaine de l'Ecu Muscadet Orthogneiss - 91 PTS - WS

wine spectator 91 pts"Tightly wound and very savory, with a core of lemon zest and honeysuckle flavors, while tangy fleur de sel and oyster shell notes give this intensity on the finish. Pure, showing impressive length. Drink now through 2026. 1,000 cases made, 100 cases imported. - AZ”
